Que fixe! Que giro! Muite afrente!
Lisboa è cool no doubts...And it also feels a lot like home. As an Italian I would say a mixture of Naples and Rome...Just did a short google for fun:
Regarding music and Opera seems that the XVIII century has been influenced by Neapolitan Operas and Portuguese musicians were sent at the Conservatory in Naples. Joao Federico Ludovice, a Portuguese architect from the same century, was trained in Rome... Italians influenced the Iberian peninsula to become a colonisation force (Ok maybe not the best influence but made you become among the best navigators!) and in the XIII century many Italian merchants were living in Lisbon (must have been already a very cool city in the middle ages to attract all these Italians!) And even Sant'Antonio, a 100% Italian Saint, choosed Lisbon as his last destination. All this is not to be patriotic but just to say that it felt just like at home. No matter how open minded we are it is just easier to evolve in a familiar setting!
Now the message for Rome and Napoli is... just copy the festas de Lisboa and get as cool otherwise we will have to do as the Italian merchants of the XIII century and migrate West ;-)
Menina this is a picture for you. It is Palazzo Diamante in Ferrara and you can find similar ones in Rome, Napoli...and Lisboa!!!!!!
